Top 10 Halloween party themes
It’s that time of year again. The nights are drawing in, the clocks are due to change and the ghosts and ghouls are getting ready to make an appearance. Well, let’s hope it’s just the neighbourhood kids anyway!
Many people get excited about Halloween, and rightly so. It’s that time of year where you can get out the Halloween costumes, make yourself look silly, decorate the house and also eat an endless amount of chocolate and sweets (Unless mummy and daddy say no!!! Meanies!!!). It’s also the main time outside of the summer that people have a party, and with a party must come to a party theme! It wouldn’t be right for you to invite your gusts around and not have the place decorated. Just the same as anyone who doesn’t wear a Halloween costume to my parties simply doesn’t get through the door! Well, maybe some will but they are probably naturally scary looking anyway!
So to aid in this we have put together some theme ideas that will hopefully get your cauldron of thought bubbling and your witches broomstick purring as the ideas start to become a realistic possibility for this year’s party!
Anyway, here are our top 10 ideas for Halloween party themes.
1, Horror Movie Night
Contents
Where would Halloween be without the scary movies? This is one of the main backbones of Halloween. Could you decorate your garden with some scary décor and maybe host an outside movie night? All you would need is a portable projector and screen and a good selection of movies. Instead of greeting your guests with glasses of champagne, why not greet them with popcorn in scary Halloween tubs! The bubbly is always a good idea as well but be different!
2, Poisonous Cocktail Party
Are you ready to be daring? How about your guests? Change things around for your bar setup for this once-a-year party. Go out and buy yourself some nice spirits (see what I did there!!) for your bar as well as some liquors and beers. When you have them back home, print out some new labels to go on the bottles. Label them with ‘Poison’, ‘Arsenic’, ‘Cyanide’ ‘Brain Juice’, and other weird and wonderful disgusting sounding drinks. When your guests arrive the saying of ‘What’s your poison?’ takes on a whole new meaning!
Something for the kids? Mix up some juices in a bowl and make a non-alcoholic punch. You can get some Halloween-shaped ice cues or even some Halloween sweets to put into the punch bowl to make it look like a fresh witches brew.
3, Beetlejuice Theme
For the older ones who remember Beetlejuice, you will surely remember how to conjure up Beetlejuice himself – Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle…….. Nah, let’s not do that just yet!
The décor is relatively easy for this as everything around beetle juice was black and white stripes. If you are unable to find décor then simple bunting can be made. Buy some whitepaper cups and draw black stripes on with a marker pen. If you are a bit more adventurous then stitch together some black and white table cloths to resemble stripes. It really is as simple as black and white stripes. Just use your imagination!
4, Witches night in!
Fancy an all-girls party night! What better than a house full of wicked witches! Sometimes a simple dinner party is what’s needed, but of course, everyone has to make an effort and come as their inner witch! Serve your food from a witch’s cauldron and have a parking area for everyone’s broomstick. Apart from that, it’s just a good reason to have a jolly good dinner party with friends!
5, Zombie Party
Hmmm, this is one that we have not yet done, but think we will have to this year. Taking inspiration from the numerous hit TV shows around Zombies (Yes there are loads now! ) you can simply dress up as anything that resembles the living dead. As long as an arm is falling off or your brains are hanging out then you will qualify as a zombie! If you want to make it a bit more authentic, master the zombie walk of dragging your feet and also the glazed-over look in your eyes! Let’s hope that no one actually mistakes you for a real zombie and decapitates your head!
Decorations for a Zombie party can be easy. Lots of yellow ‘Zombie’ warning tape everywhere. Get some fake barbed wire across the top of the fences and a case full of fake guns, just in case someone does turn, and you have yourself a great party theme!
6, Angels and Demons Theme
There is only 1 question to be answered on this, are you good or are you bad? Only time will tell!
7, Classic Halloween Party
Sometimes it’s good just to do things the simple way as they have always been! Cakes, sweets, drinks and lots of fun!
Why not get everyone to bring their favorite Halloween homemade cakes. Get them all together on the table for a feast at the end of the night. See who makes the best spider cakes? Or who has the best blood-filled donuts? Be imaginative but do nothing more than have fun!
8, Mystical Halloween Party
With a garden full of bubbling cauldrons, smokey gravestones, and scary magical creatures. Having a mystical Halloween party can be great fun. It’s all about the magic and sorcery. Witches cooking up nasty potions, wicked wizards performing mystical transformations. Give them a witches potion ingredient list and let them wander around the garden of the house collecting whatever is on the list!
9, Murder Mystery Party
What better time to kill someone than Halloween? Well, at least pretend to otherwise you might get in a bit of trouble! Let everyone know that throughout the night there will be a host of situations that will lead to someone being killed! That someone will be decided by a card given to them upon arrival! Everyone must be up for this as soon as they arrive at the party. Events can be planned and when the time is right, the body will be found! But who did the dirty on one of their friends! Let’s hope it all ends friendly!!!
10, Let’s just party!
Who needs a theme or special decorations! Get outside, put up some lights, get some drinks going and invite your friends around. Relax and enjoy a great evening with friends. After all, a pandemic can arise at any time so ensure you have got your Halloween party ready to go!
